A homeowner has confronted a brazen intruder who attempted to break into her home in Melbourne's east.
The 60-year-old woman found the man searching through the family car, before grabbing a wallet full of cash about 7.30am on Wednesday in Brighton.
Police believe two stolen vehicles, a white Volkswagen Tiguan and a grey Mazda SUV, were seen driving in convoy in the area before coming to a stop on Newbay Crescent, outside the homeowner's property.

They dumped the Volkswagen on Newbay Crescent, then both fled the scene in the Mazda.
Police said the incident was among a spate of car break-ins on Wednesday morning in the suburb.
Non-aggravated burglaries have risen nearly 30 per cent around Brighton in 12 months, leading some residents to hire security while they are away.
The men remain on the run.
